Hey all,

Looking to buy some cheap zigbee smart home gear if anyone have a bunch sitting around and are looking to downsize or upgrade. Checking here first before i order a bunch from aliexpress haha.

Mainly looking for some PIR/motion sensors, contact sensors, light bulbs, smart plugs (mainly looking for energy monitoring ones) etc.

I am yet to find a outdoor wireless zigbee or wifi motion sensor. I have a cheap 433MHz one but its reliability is junk because of that band being a cesspool of random noise and them having no handshake or 2 way confirmation.

The best option that has been suggested is the philips hue outdoor sensor. I would sooner run a wire than buy something that overpriced.

I've got a box of Zigbee devices here, ready for a new home;

  • 2x PIR sensors
  • 2x buttons (1x with no back)
  • 5x temp/humidity sensors (1x with no back)
  • 8x door/window contact sensors
  • 3x smart plugs

Most still have the double sides gunk on the back which will need to be cleaned up. My advice would be to use blutak to mount them, the double-side tape they provide is EXTREMELY sticky and makes it very hard to remove them once in position!!

They will all need batteries.

Yours for $100 + $10 courier.

Perfect, I'll take it! Sent you a msg!

Yeah some of the double sided tape they provide are really bad eh? I started using my own 3m tape. Bluetac might be OK for things like temperature sensors but buttons and contact sensor sort of needs to be well secured.

Yeah sadly it seems like the philips hue ones are probably the only realistic option. I'm actually looking for couple of them - also can't justify the rrp (that said, I did buy couple of indoor hue sensors at rrp back in the day though haha).

I managed to find a waterproof pir on AliExpress (probably designed for bathrooms), but it's pretty huuuge. If you do come across any good outdoor zigbee ones, do let me know as well.
