Is there any chance someone might have a Panasonic Blu-Ray remote control lying around that they don't need? I am trying to resuscitate a player that has had a hard life. Some of the remote buttons are non-functional and the cover looks to be glued on. I'm not keen to try to pull it apart if there is a better option.

We might have had a unit die. Which model have you got?

Thanks but I may be okay after all. This is an old player I got via family, rather beat up and sad looking. It is a Panny DMP-BD77. The drive tray was jammed and I repositioned a pin that had come out of its track after disassembling it and that seems to be okay now. But half the remote buttons were not responding and the interior was completely sticky when I opened it up, just like glue. I thought this was maybe some kind of conductive adhesive meant to hold the rubber button pad in place, but after checking YouTube it seems more likely that someone just stuck it in a glass of apple juice. I have never worked on this kind of thing before but the YouTube videos were pretty straightforward and I had a big bottle of isopropyl alcohol so I took some cotton buds and cleaned off all the sticky mess. It now seems to be working perfectly! I am chuffed. Hopefully it is sorted but if something else comes up I will get in touch. Thanks again.

Awesome. Yep, split the remote and clean behind the membrane. Been there, done that.... a few times !
