Looking for an Amazon Echo Show 8 (any version) to setup so that my elderly neighbour can video call his sister in the UK.

All devices/condition and offers considered! Can pickup in Auckland or happy to discuss shipping from anywhere in NZ.

Many thanks in advance.

Watch out for amazon sale weeks. They often have 30% or more off deals.

Is the Show 5 too small? I have a spare one. Our Show 8 is well used in the kitchen.

Just had a thought, does the Echo Show need a mobile number in order to set it up? Of course, said elderly neighbour doesn't have one so hoping that doesn't make it impossible.

It will need a number on their Amazon account matching their number on your Contacts. Then needs to approve for video calls.

To add to the previous post, wondering if anybody with experience can help with this situation...

Looking to setup an Echo Show 8 (many thanks to @hgnban) for my 90 yr old neighbour so he can video call his sister in the UK. He has the internet but no mobile phone.

So far I've got him a google and amazon account, but the amazon account requires a mobile phone number to setup calling. Tried using my number but that is already registered to my own amazon account so won't let me do it.

Tried googling and there are lots of reddit threads but can't find anything that'll help with the specific situation. Is there a way to register his landline number to his amazon account?

Any ideas??

You will need a mobile number on that account so that Alexa allows it to be used for this.

Cheap prepay phone to use only for the setup.
Most only need a single top up once a year to maintain.

If you register a mobile to an Amazon account it will be used for second factor authentication via SMS (if you don't use other 2FA methods). If you ever lose that number, the account is locked.
