Selling our leaf. Very cheap.

Ding on the corner closest to the camera in the above image (DIY repaired due to the value of the car), but otherwise in great condition.

Autech factory treatment (blue wheels, body kit, different bumper etc)
116,000km
English displays.
Michelin primacy 4 tires with 5 or 6 mm tread.
Fresh WOF
Boot cargo tray (privacy screen)
Domestic plug charge cable
type 1 to type 2 charge cable.
Jack, tire iron, compressor, goo etc.

This is listed elsewhere, but above (Firm) price is a special offer for Geekzone members. $500 cheaper than what it is listed as elsewhere.

I have a datapoint of the battery health in 2021, and so I know the battery has degraded at about 2 percentage points a year through my ownership. Many more years of good service left in this car. Not really any good for going out of the city, but a brilliant commuter.

What sort of range is comfortable with the battery in its current state?

just a question. when my leaf got to this state the battery dies everytime i go up a good long hill (like 100% to suddenly turtle appears), the regen didn't work properly, which affected the brakes which didn't work properly ...

any issues like that?

off topic but that suggest you have a failing battery cell.

What's the range on this? We need a temporary car for a few months, this might be perfect for what we're looking for.

As with all cars it is very dependent on speed and driving style.

Last time I took the leaf on a moderate length trip was from Parnell in Auckland, to windross farm golf course, and then on to Takapuna. Mostly motorway, but generally easy and flat, and I did drive slow with no aircon. That was 72 km and we arrived in Takapuna with something like 15 % range remaining.

Note if you drive gently for a couple of days, turn on eco mode & off the climate control, the dash will project more than 100 km or range.

The car is rolling on 215/55 R17 Michelin primacy 4's. Primacy 4's are known to have have higher rolling resistance than the Ecopia's or similar low rolling resistance tires, and this size is one size up than OEM (giving an extra 10mm of sidewall height, which fills the wheel arches a bit better and gives a little more ground clearance). These factors combined do sap a bit of range compared to the slippery low rolling resistance tires the car had before, for our application (second car, used for a 20km round trip commute, and running the odd errand), Trading some range for extra grip and ground clearnce was well worth it.

No issues like that.

Leafspy report is below, Pack is in fairly good balance.

Battery health has been declining at about two percentage points a over the last four years. (we have kind of babied it. Relatively low milage over the last few years, minimal fast charges, just charging to 80%).

As a general rule 2011 - 2013 24 kWh leafs batteries degrade at around 5 percentage points a year, 2014+ 24 kWh degrade at about 3 percentage points a year. And they don't start dropping cells until until they get well under 50% health. If the 2 percentage point per year degradation continues, I would expect my leaf to have 8+ years of service remaining in it.
30 kWh leaf's batteries are a bit more erratic. and prone to dropping cells.
40 & 62 kWh leaf's are dramatically better, but of course at least 4x the price I am asking for.

Good data on leaf battery health trends here: abet 2.5 years out of date:

https://flipthefleet.org/resources/benchmark-your-leaf-before-buying/

Couple of things I notice as the battery degrades.

  • Range slowly drops. My general rule on 24 kWh leaf's is to multiply 110km by the state of health, to get a real world range (driven gently).
  • Fast charge curve gets dramatically worse at higher states of charge (well anything above 45%), Of particular note, The last time I took the leaf out of town, the charge.net 50 kW fast charger cut out at 85%, I assume due to the car reaching it's minimum charge speed.
  • Battery percentage readout below 20% can get a bit erratic. Can stay linear, or start to drop quickly. Best to avoid using the bottom 15% of the battery.

This car would suit an application like ours:
- Charge at home every night
- Use for Medium distance commuting, and running errand's.

Can be fast charged if you have unexpected errands, but we don't take this car if we expect to need to fast charge anymore.

70km (plus a safety margin) is attainable with careful driving.
