I have an ancient Late 2013 MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM as a daily driver, but I doubt you'd want that 😅

It doesn’t have to be a MacBook Pro. 

The base model M4 MacBook Air has plenty of grunt behind it for most tasks and is actually pretty cheap considering what you’re getting. I would say the Air will be better for Uni.

Don't get an Intel MacBook.

M series as that is what he is using now but needs to return it next year hence need to buy his own. Some apps that he uses VS Code, IntelliJ, Xcode.
