Hey all,

Im looking to find some cheap 24V power supplies for a project (cheap but ideally decent quality so i dont burn down the house haha). I think i would need like 70w+, but i would consider anything at this stage. 12V or 48V could work too. Does anyone have any power supplies sitting around gathering dust somewhere or have any hints to where i can find some cheaply (maybe some tech scrap yard or something)?

Im in auckland.

I have some that I haven't gotten around to putting on Trademe yet. Two brand new in boxes and one which was run for a couple of hours. I'll post a pic in a sec.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

1 x RSP-500-24 (500 Watts) and 2 x BC24300 (24 Volts - 300 Watts)

$120 + shipping for the 500W and / or $20 each for 300W + shipping. I am in Pukekohe if you wanted to pick up.

Cheers.

Oops sorry forgot to respond here. Thank you @hairy1, they were great price but unfortunately i need to make sure that the power supply is certified for NZ (for insurance purposes).

Still looking for options.

I have found the NZ SDOC for the 500W power supply if you are still interested.

I am very tempted. But i think the 500w one is a bit too expensive for me, and its waaaaaaaaay too overkill given that i actually only really need 1/7th of that haha. So your 300w (or even any lower ones) is more the lines of what i was looking for :(

24v is commonly used for receipt printers. I have got a couple that I use on cheap digital amplifiers along with a receipt printer when I was getting a whole point of sale system from liquidation auctions. I have no need to print receipts so that part was useless to me.

I assume the receipt printer power supply probably wouldnt support very many amps. Ideally i want around 70-100w, so at 24V, it would require 3amps.

Whilst not used there are also LED drivers

These look ideal (this is exactly what im looking for), but pricy :(

Are LED drivers special in any way? For example, can you run other electronics etc (if voltage/wattage matches) using a LED driver? And in the same way, can you run LEDs with a random power supply (if voltage/wattage matches)?
