Hi

We booked tickets to The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo early in 2025, and in last 8 months my FIL's mobility has declined significantly.  Walking short distances (2-5 mins) is ok at a slow pace but longer distances would not work.  What I think we want/need is to borrow a parking spot from a generous resident that is less than 5 minutes walk from Eden Park.  We can then sit in the car and wait for the traffic to start to clear before heading home.  I'm happy to pay a gratuity to the homeowner.

He does not have a mobility pass/permit for his car as declining confidence has also seen his wife take on driving duties.  If he had a pass, we could have dropped him close to the park using a mobility drop-off point and then parked the car further away.  The ballot for using the limited mobility parking spaces at Eden Park has long closed, and even so due to the lack of a mobility pass we'd not have qualified.

I've never been to a major event at Eden Park, so I don't know the practicalities or using a rideshare service like Uber or a Taxi service.  Based on my experience going to Ed Sheeran at Go Media Stadium, there was a reasonable walk to the ridesharing.

Event Transport Map: TREMT-transport-map.pdf

Any advice or driveway/front lawn parking offers would be much appreciated.  Our seats are on the Reimers Ave side of the park, if that makes a difference.

Thanks,
Mike

Could he make it to the train station? It's a five minute walk at most, and you can take it at your own pace. The train station is just as close as the drop off area on Sandringham Road.

Then, park your car in the CBD somewhere (there's a parking building right behind Britomart). Trains will be free I assume.

That's a great idea ! Have a look here:

No help for this event, but it doesn't need to be the driver with the mobility pass, long as your FIL is in the car and needs to get out it's valid.

True, the pass is for anyone needing to get in/out of that vehicle.

However, OP has mentioned FIL does not have a pass (yet).

We Uber'd to and from Eden Park, getting around 400m from the park which was acceptable.

The show was fantastic, and I would highly recommend it to anyone even vaguely interested in bagpipes or brass bands.  Start time 8pm, end time 10:30pm.  We had B Reserve seats halfway along one side.  C Reserve would have been just as good I think.
