Hi, just curious what it was a temporary replacement for?  Did you end up with an induction cooktop?  Thanks.

We had to get our existing electrolux induction unit repaired and it was going to take time for parts. this came on sale and we figured that we could just re-sell this one at close to what we paid for it. ($1700)

Couldnt really go without a hob so just trying to get somewhat near what we paid. it also seems like it is not in stock anywhere or at now stupid price.

Out of curiosity, how did you find it?

We're tossing up between gas and/or induction hobs for the new build.  I've cooked on a couple of manufacturers' gas and induction hobs but never an F&P induction hob.

If trying to sell it here, hardly likely to say they didn’t like it. 😀

It was pretty good, probably the only criticism i have is only having 10 increments for power control. But thats probably more of a me nitpick as im used to 14 on the electrolux

This response is really a bit poor. Why you think you need to interject in the middle of this is beyond me.

Not the OP obviously, but we renovated our kitchen several years ago and we have mains gas.

We had a gas hob and we were thinking about what we would do.

My wife was keen on just getting another gas hob and maybe a small induction hob to the side.

I thought that we should go full induction hob with a single gas burner - gas as a backup and maybe wok frying.

Can't recall when we last used the gas burner.

Induction is faster heat up, even over the pan/pot base (no hot spots) and immediate response when you drop the temperature. You can leave something on a very low simmer for ages without things 'catching'.

Also noticed that as there isnt a hot air updraft around the pots, there is a lot less residue spread above the cooker - if that makes sense.

If you are trying to decide between induction and gas its not really even a contest any more IMHO.

The reason why you're not finding it in stock is that model is now end of life. It doesn't have a direct replacement either as the 70cm model was always an unusual cooktop size.

Apologies for the SmartA post - was not aimed at you  - more a reflection on the nature of the question. No offence intended to anyone.

I've cooked with both, in multiple homes.  It's not quite that simple for me.  I think it depends how you cook and whether you're solving for easy or taste. If you're using flat-based steel pots or pan, induction is fine.  But ... I often cook with a round-bottom wok or a ceramic tagine.  Induction is rubbish for anything with a round base, due to the reduced heated area vs gas.  Obviously, most ceramic cookware is a non-starter.

My dream kitchen would have induction and gas.
