Any one have a spare Intel 13600/13700, or 14600/14700 CPU sitting around potentially with a DDR4 MB for them (any model K/F is fine)?

Brother is looking to do a partial upgrade retaining his existing DDR4 memory and other parts, the DDR4 motherboard is readily available but the CPU's have become difficult to track down.

I take it you want the iGPU? I see F/KF models still in stock.

Not sure about partial upgrade to that gen with ddr4, especially second hand you won’t know if it will surface any problems.

No need for the iGPU, yeah not my favoured upgrade path either.

But that's what he's keen to do (from a lower end 11th gen) and with current DDR prices switching to DDR5 would likely double the cost of the upgrade. From what I can tell the 13/14 600's weren't affected by the degradation issue so worth seeing if anyone has one floating around for cheaper than picking up a new one.

They were affected, Intel has a list of CPU’s with 2 year extended warranty for them. vmin shift instability affected the entire raptor and meteor lake architecture, so if any second hand CPU’s were idling during their power on time before getting the microcode update then they could potentially be degraded.

Wouldn't touch these secondhand, to be honest.

Systems with these CPUs also have trouble selling secondhand for a reasonable price, from what I've been able to see.

I ended up getting my CPU replaced as it was crashing. It had had the BIOS update that resolved this,  but that was only after i purchased it and it had been in use for about 6 months. Since replacing the CPU it has been fine. So mine  shouldn’t now be affected in the future. But it isn’t great that it had this reputation considering hot expensive they are.
