I have a 1970's IBM data terminal what was found in the basement at work, and wish to donate it to a reputable museum in New Zealand.

See http://www-03.ibm.com/ibm/history/exhibits/rochester/rochester_4016.html for details.

It is in reasonable condition, complete, with the exception of the keyboard surround and viewing mirror for the monitor.

Note this terminal is a small offic desk, which takes two people to lift.

Does anyone know of a suitable institution, and how to contact them?

Many thanks

Not looking good - 40 reads and no response... anyone got any idea where else I could post something that could find a suitable home for the terminal?

What about MOTAT in Auckland?

Thanks... It has been a long while since I visited Motat, but it was a sad mess then - the technology area was mostly wrecked by little visitors, with nothing looking good.. anyone able to advise it has improved?

Have you checked with the local University? The computer science department may be interested...

I am located in the US, but would like to know who eventually takes this system. If you would consider passing along my contact information.

My issue is unique. I am working with a few other folks to restore some 1979 vintage Datapoint 1800 computer systems. I used to work in Datapoint R&D engineering around this time as a junior engineer. The Datapoint systems used standard IBM 8" diskette basic drive machanisms, but used their own custom drive controller and thier own formating. Our combined group only has a few spare disks of the correct format.

We would like to have more to be able to replicate and share programs and application software. Several of  us recall using the 3741 to create the Datapoint format (but we do not recall how exactly). We are interested if anyone would like to take standard format blank disks and reformat them for Datapoint. We could provide some disks for the reference disk and target disks to format. It would be a learning project.

Perhaps the person who ends up with the system would be willing to help us. One of our contributers and where we have a display of Datapoint equipment and history is the Austin Goodwill Computer Museum.

If you have not heard of Datapoint much or at all. Check this link.

Dear Radionut,

In behalf of the Goodwill Austin Computer Museum, located in Austin, Texas USA, we would possibly be interested in the 3741 that you have available. We would be pleased to add it to our collection and would put it to good use supporting future digital archiving projects that are developing with our local university School of Information (University of Texas at Austin, ~55K students).

Please let us know if we can provide more information about our intentions and credentials.
