Hi, I'm after a cheap/free laptop to use for web access. My laptop has just died so I am writing this from my ps3 which is pretty painfull at best. DDoes anyone have a basic laptop I can buy/have/borrow for a couple of months? I don't want to buy a new computer yet as we are in the process of selling our house and depending on what house we buy will point me towards a new desktop or laptop. Thanks.

Thanks but I'm really after something free or cheap enough that I can give it away to another geekzone member or the salvation army shop when I don't need it anymore. It does't have to be anything fancy.

Hi appreciate the offer but the shipping cost to send a desktop might be prohibitive.

why dont you... Install ubuntu linux on your ps3, install iceweasel (or firefox).. get a usb keyboard and mouse.. and your set.. You will then be able to visit any site, flash wont be a problem etc.
will only cost you the price of a keyboard and mouse if you dont have one already..

Be helpful to say where you are... as you mentioned "shipping cost to send a desktop might be prohibitive"... so an indication of where you are geographically could help people nearby you to help you out.

Decided I couldn't put up with web access via my ps3 or v6 maxx anymore so went and purchased a new laptop yesterday, hopefully it will be here today.

I think if you ever need something like that again you should go see Gore High, Probably ask for Mr Brockway (spelling?) I remember there was heaps of old junkers in the back of the computer room.
