Evening Folks

I'm looking for someone who has a S-VHS VCR. I used to have the Mitsi E-82 and the Panasonic S-VHS VCR's back in the day as i used to a lot of recording in S-VHS in the early 90s.

I have one tape left that I need to get converted onto DVD. I've been trying to get a VCR from trademe with no luck. Rather than trying to get a VCR, I'm now looking to see if someone already has a VCR and DVD-Recorder, that I can send my tape for them to do.

I know there's a few Quasi S-VHS VCR's around but I'm guessing they dont correctly output the full 400 line resolution. I'd like to get this recorded in high quality SP mode on the recorder.

Flick me a PM if you can help me out ( will pay you to DVD my tape ) or suggest a place I can take my tape to. I'm in Hamilton.

c71931f: Is their no place in Hamilton that will do it for you?i think a place near me does it, and they also sell stuff on trademe..

I have a feeling there wouldnt be. There's heaps of places that do VHS to DVD. There would be however, hardly any of those places that have a S-VHS VCR. I was always big on quality so as soon as this format VCR came out in 1990, i jumped on it.. cost me something like $2000 for the first consumer S-VHS VCR a Mitsubishi E-70.. S-VHS never really took off because laserdisc (oh how technology's changed in only the last 20 years! hehe) was on the horizon.

Seems like I have more chance finding someone who was also a S-VHS enthusiast.

If you could get the name of that trader, at least it gives me another avenue to try.

I got a couple of E82 VCR's in the roof space,can dig em out see if they are still goodies. They were used as duplicators many moons ago. If they work OK can do copy for you. Will test first. I'm in Tauranga. Cheers

Great news! Hopefully they've still got some life left in them. If they do I'll get your details to send the video tape

Well if all fails I still have a working S-VHS recorder connected to my HT system. What I have done in the past is output video from tape to a Canopus ADV110 capture device which converts analogue video and audio to DV format that can be captured directly to a PC or MAC over firewire. The resulting DV format video can be edited in pretty much any decent video editor.
