- 3.5 Internal SATA HDD - 500gb + / 7200rpm
- External IDE HDD case
- IDE to SATA Power converter
- SATA Extension cable

Was looking for these to upgrade storage on my PS3.

Don't know what they are, just know how to do it :)

Are these things pretty common/cheap to buy?

Appreciate any help.

All common but why not just buy a 2.5" 500GB HDD and use that rather than have a 3.5" sitting next to your PS3.

I have a 3.5" External drive plugged into my PS3 using USB (1TB) for extra storage so I can move it between machines but all my PS3 games etc stay on the internal 120gb 2.5" in the PS3.

2.5" HDD are around $100.

Thanks xpd.

I wanted to feel like a real tech-whizz by opening up my PS3 and venturing into unknown territory XD

But your idea sounds easier and i'm less likely to break something :)

And to upgrade the HDD in the PS3 dosent void your warranty (if still has one) :)
