Hi everyone.

I was doing some thinking the other day and i thought it might be cool to build a website for charity but im having a real hard time trying to figure out what to do, whether i start an auction on Trademe or something i just dont know.

Theres just so many ideas but i dont know where to start, i thought if i just started an auction and sold a website i would give the money to a charity or something like that, maybe theres someone who wants to do something similar and could join up to make a real decent auction. E.G. I have a mate who is a music producer who would be keen to do something also like a radio jingle or advertising tunes or something that could be added to the package.

Anyone have any ideas??

Well why not do just that, build a website and sell it for charity.

Maybe a generic business template?

I'd be happy to help if you need/want anyone, I have been working with websites for quite a few years now.

Wouldn't you be better to first contact the charities you believe in, and they then maybe able to give you some ideas. Some charities require you to get their permission first before mentioning their name in any promos.

Not too sure how much use a generic website is to anyone, it really has to be designed around a businesses corporate branding. There are heaps of free generic websites out there, with joomla and wordpress etc. You have then got hosting and the domain name, which would also be a cost, and whether that would also be donated.

Was meaning a template which would be unique for a certain business type. So not like what is available for free since it would be still unique to the buying business.

The other option is one done from scratch specifically for that business.

But yes either way, talking to the charities first is a good idea.

The website would be a full featured custom site designed by me and built by me, i would pay for the domain name and the first years hosting and the income generated would be going 100% to charity.

I have yet to decide on a package, im not to worried really can be anything, the whole idea is to make money for charity so of course im willing to put the hard work in to make a good website.

Charity wise im not sure yet theres so many... but of course i would contact them and put my offer in (along with whoever else wanted to join). also the reason im asking about all this is to maybe get other people involved otherwise i would just go ahead and start an auction, but the more people involved the more potential help could be made. :)

Always good to brain storm with people
