When I last asked I was met by a deafening silence of offers.

Eh - figured it's worth a stab in the dark before I go and buy new. Christmas being the season and all. Smile

Buying new is pretty hard. I was unable to find any in stock at the places I normally go to, and they would only order it and sell it to me with no guarantees of compatibility, and based on past experience with filling a motherboards slots, I didn't want to risk it.

I will let you know... I may have 4GB coming up soon when I get back home. When are you looking at getting it before you go and buy new?

Never have issues with ordering DDR2 RAM, always in stock through the stores I use via pricespy/gearbot.

Plenty of DDR2 RAM on Trademe, although the items on there tend to be more expensive.

DDR2 is still very popular, we order in 50 a month to upgrade machines on base.

Small slow sticks are, but the fast or the 4 gig ones are not in stock anywhere, last machine I populated all 4 slots was only with 2 gig sticks and that was fussy as hell and had to turn the timings down to get it stable.

Actually managed to score 2GB of what looks to be brand new Corsair from trademe for $60 - all seems to be working fine as of this afternoon, so thanks everyone but it looks like the crisis is averted :-)
