When I was over in the UK i managed to get my 5800 xm to get a fix using i-gps several times, not so lucky when I was in Amsterdam/Berlin though... weird.

Mine takes between 10 - 60secs to get a lock in NZ. Had a few occasions where the signal gets drops off when I'm driving but the i-gps usually gets a lock again seconds later.

My galaxy 3 (i5800) found a fix inside a classroom the other day withen 30seconds when i was trying to show my mate how to get home since he just moved house. I'd never tried it properly before and its way way quicker than my navman when its finding its location.

Mine has gone 10 minutes plus without locking on. Happens when in different location to last time used, if use where last used locks on pretty quick. By different location just referring to few kms.

Find locks on faster if I move, not leave phone stationary. Also if wifi location on, and have data enabled locks on quicker to.
