Hello,

I am looking to rent between 10 & 20 outdoor navigation GPS units for a 5 day period in December. (For example the Garmin Dakota 20).

Does anyone know of any groups or companies able to rent outdoor units? A key point is that the units need to be of the same model if possible, must have electronic compass built-in, and preferably be touch-screen.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

I´d contact your local landSAR group. We ¨borrowed¨ a case of them (admittedly just for the day) from my local group.

Thanks Knoydart,

I've put out a few feelers to LandSAR - but so far it seems the number of units needed may be a problem. Also, not many have touchscreen units, which would be the best for our purposes.

Regards,
Mike.

I´m guessing there is a reason you want a touch screen?

Maybe also talk to Garmin, they must have demo units - or at least know who would hire stock of them? GPS units for hire are few and far between at least in the tramping world, PLB´s are the main item of kit usually for hire, along with mountain radios in my experience
