Anyone else use it? I guess it gets a lot better if there are more users in your area to report problems etc.

I tend to use it whenever in the car, not so much for navigation but have to running (is that how the points work or do you have to navigate?) And like updating the fuel prices.

Yes, I use it every day for my commute from Rodney into Devonport. Although it shows the traffic, I'm not convinced it does a good job at picking the best route - I know from experience that it's best for me to leave the motorway at Greville Rd and use the East Coast Road, but Waze doggedly directs me down the motorway to Esmonde. I'm hoping that with more users, it might get better.
I was going to get a TomTom move with traffic because I have heard these are very good at picking the best route, but am reluctant to shell out $300 if it may be no better

I was using it for my trips from Whangaparaoa to Albany to avoid congestion on the m/way, worked reasonably well but did depend on the number of users on that route to be really effective.
But I bus now, so dont even have it installed.

I used to use it, but now use a dedicated GPS in the car.
The dedicated GPS warns me when I am close to a known speed camera, which (from memory) I don't think waze does.

I tried a couple of times. How are you supposed to report delays, wrong roads, etc if you're driving and have to pay attention to more important things like... driving?

At the end I just use Sygic on my Android device (which receives traffic updates from TomTom automatically) and trying a Navman device for a review (which also gets automatic traffic updates).

Like anything pull over, or be the passenger (in fact it asks you if you're a passenger if it detects you trying to report while moving).

Not sure if you can do reports via voice.

It takes about three screen presses to report traffic etc - no more difficult than changing radio station, lighting a cigarette etc. Obviously wouldn't want to do it while you're cornering at 100kph but if you've just slowed to a crawl in traffic, it's reasonable.

If it knows the speed limit on the road, and the fact your not moving very fast, can't it auto report that way?

It sometimes, but rarely, does this. Usually the road seems to stay "clear" until someone reports it. Occasionally, you get a dialogue pop up saying soemthing like "you seem to be slowing down, is this due to congestion?" I think Waze could be much smarter in how it gathers and uses congestion information

i figured just by having it running, that it was doing this internally...ie keeping track of my speed and the posted speed limit and where many cars differ say it is going slow.

I've been using it for about 4 years. I mapped out a lot of the Auckland/North Island roads (although other editors have taken over now as I don't have the time). I don't use it on a regular basis as my commute is less than 5 minutes.

From memory I think there are voice controls for reporting traffic etc, but I've never used them.

Yep, I've been using Waze for the last 4 years or so, about 35,000 recorded km's.

I regularly update fuel prices, the more people using it the better. Like others have found, the suggested routes aren't always the best - I quite often get many many side streets when I know that a direct route on the main road is better, but sometimes i do find a genuinely better route - never afraid to try something new!

I used to use Waze heaps about 3 years ago and was an editor for Wellington. Mapped heaps and corrected other peoples mappings - some of which were unbelievably bad. Overall it was ok, but suffered from a lack of users so was quite unreliable in terms of telling which routes were congested etc. Not that there's many Wellington - I got bored of using GPS and now only use it (Google Maps) if I don't know where I'm going so I uninstalled Waze. I imagine that in the 3 years or so since I uninstalled it the user base would've grown and it's accuracy would be better.
