Hi all

I want to get a gps for my mother. she will need it to be very easy to use, no need for all the bells and whistles. i have used tom toms before and i find them easy to use but not sure on reliability. Read some reviews where people have difficulty upgrading maps etc

Can anyone recommend a brand and model

Thanks in advance

Definitely TomTom!

My recommendation is to get TomTom GO 600 - decent size and capacitive screen.

Do NOT pick GO 50/60 - it uses resistive screen (but slightly cheaper).

I have a Tomtom GO720 that I put in the cupboard about 2 years ago and have no use for. (we use our mobile phones as GPS now).

The previous owner updated the maps, that would have been about 5 years ago - give or take. Anyway, if you are in Auckland, and are interested, it's yours (or any one elses!) for $75. Was working fine when last used, have no idea if it still works, but  I am happy to accept it back if it doesn't suit.

PM me if interested - I am in Parnell.
