Looking for solution with Clarion Car Nav AV Unit - i.e. map upadate from US to NZ.
Need to find ways of reading the SD card; need also external active GPS antenna.
US map is displayed on the screen. SD card which comes with it is not readable in Lynux/Windows - anyone had experience with reading those SD Navi cards in car units?
I have no external GPS antenna to test reception on th ebench - looking for advice on making / reusing external active GPS antenna.
Clarion external GPS is powered by 5V (according to Service Manual)
As I do not have time to go to the wreckers to find external antenna - something like this:

I was looking at what I can reuse. Teared apart old Uniden in car box with foldable antenna - looks like that antenna is powered by 2.8V
Uniden GPS is working device - I'd rather give it away to somebody rather than take the antenna out of it (as if it will not work - I would not be soldeig it back again).
Anyone has experience with active GPS antennas? Voltage range, precautions for not burning device or antenna?
