how good is your gps reception indoors when your away from a window? when you try find your gps co-ordinates of where you are when indoors, does it give you the correct co-ordinates?
It will depend on the chipset (the newer ones have improved quite a bit) and device set up. But a general rule of thumb is that GPS does not work well inside (especially if under metal) and accuracy will suffer. For best result GPS should have a line of sight to the sky.
Personally, I wouldn't bother trying to get GPS signal inside.
My N82 gets locks indoors, usually though I'll go to a window first to acquire the lock a bit faster, it holds it reasonably well. Accuracy is a worse than usual of course, but not awful by any means.
As to why try and get locks indoors - photo geotagging.
I can use my entry-level Navman inside if I sit on the couch next to the big windows in my lounge. It takes ages to fix, needs to be held just-so, and doesn't help me find beer or pizza any quicker.
