Noticed Tuesday that updates keeped going “opps something went wrong”

After searching and finding nothing decided to reset device last night.

Now cannot log in to mydrive from device so previous address’s won’t sync, cannot set destination from phone.

Did another search and found four hour old message that their servers are down, yet I can log in from applic on phone just not the Tom Tom go520.

Have sent them an email, as to me to have about a week long outage on a $300 to $500 device is not very good..

Also traffic only works through Bluetooth with Skinny mobile when use VPN, don’t know if it’s a CNAT issue or something else but it worked without VPN on 2degrees mobile.

I won’t be buying another Tom Tom.

I have been successfully updating my Tom Tom every 3 months for the last couple of years with no problems. However you need you need to be careful how you connect to your PC.

Mine always needed to be plugged into the same USB port that was used to register it with when I first got it. Don’t know why. Perhaps try a different USB port?

On your last comment I agree, stand-alone GPS devices are IMO all but obsolete with mobile phones and the likes of Google Maps providing a superior experience on the single device.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

It's wifi, I can park car outside house and update it, no need to bring inside and plug into computer.

When I brought my last car four years ago was looking at one that was part of the car, but they all looked like you had to take back to dealer and get a CD put in to update them which I thought was a bit of a racket and silly in this day and age, I may look for an Apple play one next car.

Got home tonight and tried again, after some fiddling it finally logged in.

Also if someone sends me a text or message with an address can copy into applic on phone and it will be on device in car next time turn on, can also set destination on phone, and then when jump in car it will come up a new destination has been received, so don't have to set destination when hop in car.

If it worked without hassles I would be overjoyed with it, some road changes in Christchurch seem to take 2 years plus before it's updated on map, and I've had it tell me to turn right where no right hand turn is allowed. Hope mapping systems are better on self drive cars.
