Just noticed on Google Maps this morning that a StreetView button has appeared when viewing NZ locations, no sign of any actual photos linked to the map yet though.

Can't wait!

Google were here earlier in the year just after they did Australia but the car was spotted again a few weeks ago. Word is they are finishing off some incomplete data before it goes live.

I think there should be a prize for any Geekzone user who can find themselves! :-)

Street view went live in Australia ~2-3 weeks ago.

Looks like it's working for Australia, try zooming in on Sydney, they have a pretty high percentage of the urban areas covered.

You should see a StreetView button beside the More button on the top of the map pane, click on the StreetView button to turn on the blue overlay that shows which streets have been captured, then just click on a street to bring up the images.  I've tried in Firefox 3, IE, and Safari, seems to work on all three browsers.

Street view button returned to NZ maps on Saturday but did not show any content.  Has vanished once again.

A car just drove past me in my work ute so I'm in the running for the prize. The car was following a scooter for about 50m or so before passing me, will be interesting to see if the scooter appears in multiple frames.

Occurred on Mission Bush Road, Glenbrook - a rather remote location so they are obviously aiming for comprehensive coverage of NZ.

The style of the camera assembly appears to have changed, atop the pole now is a red object about the size of a cup with various lens holes around it. Not quick enough for a photo sorry.

Google is set to announce something in New Zealand this Monday - I suspect it's the official Street View release here.

Yes. The Microsoft Live ones are fantastic, just a shame Google aren't using the same data.

yeah, some of Palmerston North is wrong too.  I drive on this road almost every day, so I'm sure it's there (been there for at least 6 years).  Probably others too, but I just picked this particular one up
