Apple's competitor to Street View is now available here. I've just been poking around trying to figure out how old the imagery is... maybe a year or two?
The press release has a few more details.

It looks really cool but I'm slightly confused about the walking views as the 'look around' feature seems to only cover roads. For example, the press release shows the screenshot below but I can't figure out how to access this on my iPhone or my Mac?
I had the updated maps a few weeks back on one of my devices for about two days. It was on one iPad despite there being several different devices in our household, I'm assuming it was just being tested. What's odd is that the official release appears to use older imagery, at least where we live. Our house, and houses around us, were all shown as outlines on the iPad when you zoomed in to your location, but now in our area our houses aren't there anymore. Nice update though.

The imagery around my place in Wellington is dated early 2021, and around my parents' place in Richmond it's late 2020.
I really hope that they update 'Look Around' more often that the 3D models which are seriously out of date.
How do you see the date?

Obviously photoshopped. Wellington never looks like that! 😁

Thanks. For anyone else stuck on this, you need to expand the Look Around 'window' to full size before the dots show up (on MacOS 12; I can't speak for other versions).
