Ok I have bought a 2000 model Estima that has the GPS etc and have been told that i cant convert it to english or NZ maps so I need to replace it.

I have no idea about these things as I havent looked at them before now, but, am looking for a unit that pretty much does all the things the old one does but better.

I want it to fit in the hole left by the old one and have the following features:

Reversing camera
AM/FM radio
CD player (with MP3 support)
DVD player (with DiVX support)
GPS with NZ maps of course
Trip meter etc

any other bells and whistles I can get as well would be nice. Have to pack features in to prove to wife it is worth getting lol.

Has anyone had to do this and have recommendations?

Cheers

To find a unit that has all that as a total solution is a big ask as a consumer.... if the original one had it all, then only thing you could potentially do is ask Toyota if there is a local version available. The cost would probably be horrendous however.

My solution would be to buy the items seperately (CD/DVD head unit, etc) and put them in the hole and make your own surround to fill the gaps.

Or other choice, fill the hole, get a eeePC 701 with a USB GPS reciever, USB camera, USB TV/FM reciever and youre done :)

apparently it has been asked and its not available because the price would have been extortionate.

I just thought there may have been another model car that had the thing in an english version that I could transplant. Myabe in aus?

Thanks anyway

I believe Pioneer have a unit with all the features you want. Not sure if it is available in NZ.

Just ring your local car aduio place and ask?

For billions of years since the outset of time, every single one of your ancestors survived, every single person on your Mum and Dads side, successfully looked after and passed onto you life.  What are the chances of that like?
