A mate of mine has sent me a file of some stored co-ordinates from his Garmin Etrex.  I've tried all sorts of methods to get the co-ordinates into Google friendly WGS84 (so I can plot them on a map) but I have to admit I'm stumped.

I have the points in two formats.

"NZ GeoDatum 49"
Rotoroa Jetty: E2476537 N5934506
Rotoiti Lodge: E2496425 N5933852

or

"wgs84" (it's not right)
PREFIX: 59 G PP
Rotioiti Lodge: 52586, 70552
Rotoroa Jetty: 32721, 71671

Anyone able to convert these correctly?

Hi Nate,

the 1st set of co ordinates are topo map grid references. I suspect you need access to either the Vegas topo map or the NZ grid data set to convert.

kind regards

Knoydart

I tried using the Land Information NZ website to do an online conversion but I can't seem to get the points into a format that their calculator likes.

Use the new zealand map grid as the  Input coordinate system, and you should be able to convert.
