I'm completely lost in GPS world... so many devices and I've no experience with non of them.

What I need is included in Navman my50 or my30, but I also found many NOBRAND GPS devices with extra features. I have no idea how reliable navman is, but the price looks right to me (especially my30). However, NOBRAND is cheaper.

Comments and suggestions please.

Navman rocks. TomTom is better again. I have owned both.

My understanding is the nobrand jobbies in a lot of cases run Windows CE so you can do all sorts of tricks and load other software if you feel keen enough

That said i have a Tomtom and love it.

I like the tomtom, however I have been using Garmin XT on my nokia N85. I like the tomtom software, however I can get free maps that are updated daily to use with Garmin devices, free maps go a long way to helping me make my mind up if I was to choose.

Navman MY500-XT is my first delve into GPS units (apart from the fantastic experience with Google Maps on my Diamond), the words to describe my experience can not be used in a public forum such as this pub the following is my summation

Lifetime Traffic service: really?!? how the hell do I get it?
Support: ha! see above
Junctions: good luck, how about a large brown mass with your vehicle pointing the opposite direction to actual travel
Phone Call: ha ha! no map for you while you are in a call (this was the main reason I bought the damn thing as the same thing happens when I take a call on the Diamond)
Enter an address: only if you have lady fingers, any male fingers will select all the surrounding characters
Large screen: with small button, see lady finger reference above
Points of Interest: "Glenfield Mall", no. "Westfield Mall, Glenfield", errr, where the hell is the mall? If you know the street the mall is located, you can find it, however if you know that you probably don't need GPS (this was my first test case when I used it, I'm fearful of my first dry run, at least I have the diamond as backup)
Power Supply: lead is very short, only suits cars with traditionally placed power supply (previously known as a cigarette lighter)

there are however features I like

Speed limit notification
3D map suites the wide screen format
directions voice is not annoying
