Im on holiday soon and going to be borrowing a friends GPS unit - I think its a Navman.

Do they come with a wall charger by default or car charger only ? Im asking as Im not 100% if my car "lighter" socket actually works.

No use taking a  GPS with car charger only if the car wont charge it ;)

In saying that, whats the battery life on the Navman units like ?

Mine just came with the car charger only, when I had an older model it came with both.

Not too sure how long the battery lasts, when I was using a car that had a dodgy cigarette lighter, Navman lasted long enough during the day, with a charge every night.

If you have a bit of electronics experience then use a version of this (http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/en/product/M5373) with a longer lead

Heh if I get desperate I guess I could use that ;)
I'll have to have a word with the owner tonight and see what he has for it....maybe hes purchased a wall charger anyway. :)

Also have to find something that uses the car socket to see if it works anyway....

Thanks guys :)

Just found this... http://www.playtech.co.nz/afaw...

Looks like a mini-usb connector (altho the pic isnt the best) - do most of the Navman units have this connector ? Would it charge via USB ?

The three Navman units I've had all have the mini-usb connector and all could be charged from a computer.
