So.. I've been using a Garmin 260W for a couple of years now and it has got me from A to B pretty nicely.
I have an android phone and have google navigation on it and also copilot which are quite nice but I actually prefer to have a dedicated GPS unit in the car.
I went out and got a tomtom xxl, nice 5 inch screen, decided to try tomtom out this time even though I have had no problems with my garmin unit and will keep that also.
Anyway quite like tomtom, the maps seem more accurate here in NZ and even had all the parking lanes included for the local mall etc.
The instructions are nicer too, "go straight through the roundabout" whereas on garmin its always just the exit number.
Haven't used it enough to comment on iqroutes yet but seems a good feature if it works and lots are contributing.
Speaking of that... I had read there was an option like contribute anonnymous information which uploads data from your tomtom to help wtih iqroutes, I have found no such option in mine. Do they all contribute automatically when you connect your tomtom to the home software?
Garmin does seem simpler, I can see why a lot of rental car companies choose it.. its very simple, tomtom is loaded with options which I love.. but I am sure many would find it confusing.
I also see IGO software out there, anyone tried this? what are the maps like? the graphics seem to be the best out of all the GPS..... i had read IGO can use maps from navteq or teleatlas.
Even though I see IGO listed for android on their website I cannot find it in android market at all.
Also, anyone ever bought one of the wince devices on trademe that use IGO?
Are they good? the specs look quite impressive, better than branded gps units. I'd love to hear from someone that has got one.. what the screen is like....
Anyway.. if anyone has any comments on anything love to hear about it!
