Not sure if i have worded the title correctly their.

So my friend works for a company were his job involves travelling around visitng 20-30 businesses a day, this company refuses to buy him a GPS although i'm sure it would make him much more effecient.

Anyway my friend has decided just to make his life easier he will buy a GPS himself, i don't know a heap about them but i'm hoping you guys can help.

The only feeature he really needs is to be able to plug it into his computer before work and then import a list of 20-30 addresses for him to visit during the day, and maybe even have the GPS figure out the shortest route covering all address?

Then when hes on the road he just wants the GPS to navigate him to a destination then when he reaches their navigate him onto the next one automatically.

I have never heard about this feature in a GPS but i'm hopeful their are some out there?

Cheers

Pretty sure most of them will do waypoints. I am not sure about the programming them in on the PC in the morning though.

I can add a list of addresses into my tomtom and it will work its way through the list, however it doesn't plan the order ie it works through the list as you input them and there is no way of mass updating from a computer

I think i know what you are wanting and i suspect there is nothing available this side of a specialist third party fleet management tool

just found a program called GPS utility - looks like it might help me.

http://www.gpsu.co.uk/

The annoying thing is my friend works for a company who has this sort of fleet management software but don't think is job would benefit from using it :(

If you have a Nokia GPS capable phone with Ovi maps installed, you can add favourites and/or design routes on your PC using the Ovi Maps site and add these as favourites then sync these to your phone.  You can then choose the routes or favourites on the phone which will give you turn by turn navigation to that destination.  For a pre-installed out of the box application Ovi maps is very very good.
