Having owned both a TomTom and Navman car GPS unit there is one aspect of them both that comes up far short of what I would consider to be acceptable.

Both manufacturers advertise NZ fixed speed camera and red light camera location databases as a feature.  But in my experience the supplied databases for NZ for both manufacturers are highly inaccurate and rarely, if ever, updated.  On both the Navaman and TomTom web sites I have been unable to find anywhere where anything like an up to date database can actually be separately downloaded.  And information in the standard updates notices are remarkably quiet on this subject.  So black marks to both!

Are there any resolutions out there?

What area are you in? I'm in central Auckland, and on my Navman, I find the fixed cameras to be spot on.

gwprojects.org have the Garmin ones. You can get the gpx and extract what you need.

Or Extract them yourself from zenbu.co.nz. Search redlight camera and speed camera. And if they are wrong, sign up and add your own :)

If you can load a database in gpx or csv format then this may help.
