Hi there.
I've recently changed fibre providers from WXC to Snap as the plans were better.
I have noticed since the change over, my download speeds have decreased quite a lot. I used to get a solid 3.4MB actual speed, now it wont get close to that. Most its got to is 2MB
My WXC plan was only a 30/10 and now with snap we went for the ultra plan 100/50
Doing the standard speed test I get the following:

I did notice that Facebook and YouTube etc. were acting up, but after some research found an article on here and change the IPv6 to IPv4 and that sorted it, but not the speed.

Has anyone else had the same problem? Would it be on my end of things or Snaps?
If I cant get the same speed out of a higher connection what's the point of going full speed?

Hello... Our robot found some keywords in your post, so here is an automated reply with some important things to note regarding broadband speeds.

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

- you have reset your modem and router

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing

- you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

- Your ISP and plan

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

- Your general location (or street)

- If you are rural or urban

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I recommend you read these two blog posts:

- Are you receiving a substandard ULL ADSL2+ connection from your ISP?

where are you testing these speeds to?

in my own experience (60/10 VDSL) i max out to my dedicated server in NL over a single thread, cant say i can complain about that.

I'm having issues downloading off my seedbox on feralhosting. Can only manage 50KB/s or so off a multi threaded download.

ah feral.. i have my hand in a competing company...

in terms of feral, your probably are hitting congestion in US..

they have a very dirty plan in place currently, where they expect everyone to go via a tunnel broker, over IPv6 to bypass their excessive use of cogent. (their IPv6 is purely via HE.)

in the seedbox world, cheap routing is key.

considering your on snap, im sure you can move over to a provider that offer L3 which absolutely flys. (of which they should reroute you upon request - snap default to L3 both ways.)

i have tuned stacks at both ends, so that alters it a tad, but single FTP thread, i sit at an average of 5~7MB/s.

ild caution you to get away from feral while you can, they absolutely sardine pack their boxes, only way to make 10G affordable at "acceptable seedbox rates"

Right, I have a feeling it is the filehosting site I was using, just tried downloading a vid from youtube to see how fast it would go. Got to 11MB/s so def faster than I thought. Dunno, maybe the filehost is acting up?

under? no. i kinda solidly do the more upper market, VPS based machines.

dont really look too much at other offerings, aside from what they do network sided. kinda outside the bounds of this thread though.

what did snap do overnight? This morning my UFB connection had died, and it looks like they remotely reset my connection last night.

It is going now ,but, it was not good timing for me.

Im getting 30kb/s from rapidgator lately... is there something with their network?

loading their website alone, is as slow as dogs.

via a proxy, it is also just as slow. so ild suspect it could be their side.
