Does anyone @ slingshot know if the 10GBPS trial in march will expand into more suburbs and ISPs? Am keen to get in on the trial.

Question is - why?

You likely don’t have a 10Gbit network or any need for it. Most people don’t even need Gigabit. I doubt you have any ability to ultilise it if you were to ever get it.

With that hardware you have no use for 10Gbps.  I have the "1Gbps" service at home and my usage across over a dozen internet connected devices on my home network devices  never even touches the sides.  I could likely get the same out of 200/200 but it's more cost effective for me to have the 1Gbps plan.  10Gbps is not going to help anyone at home, at least any more than 1Gbps does.

Hi there,

I'm keen too! At the moment the trial is only in Avondale, Birkenhead and Johnsonville exchanges (anyone reading - let me know if you are in these locations).

When we have more details around how you can get involved I will post them on GZ.

Cheers, Quentin

Ya generally start with a Xeon, 10GBE mobo or expansion fibre NIC, commercial grade internal 10GBE fibre network.

I called Chorus and asked them directly if I can be included in the trial..

I've got 10Gb ethernet at home and ready to go.. so hopefully they allow me to join in..

They said it's chosen randomly for those areas by your ISP..

My ISP said they've indicated in their systems that I've got the gear needed..

See what happens I guess..

It's a discussion forum.  You have to expect discussion when you post something.

Yea but there is a difference between starting a discussion and being obnoxious for no reason.

How do you find out which exchange you are on? I'm in Albany which isn't to far away from Birkenhead

You will be off one of the local Albany exchanges (Probably Albany). The UFB OLT coverage areas are quite small.

I am in Birkdale and I am not covered by Birkenhead :-(
