So the other day fibre was installed, tec did a speed test on my desktop and up and down were both of the scale Excellent.

However not anymore

Average down is only 160mbps on the speed test up is till ok

I did a speedtest from Slingshot to my box 539 up and 928 down.

So I have checked my ethernet card and is has a status of 1gbps

So suggestions of what else to try??

The assumption I am making is its my side of things that there is an issue....

How are you testing? Are you using the Windows 10 Ookla speedtest app & testing to a Vocus server?

What do you mean by "I did a speedtest from Slingshot to my box 539 up and 928 down"?

Hi I am using this one http://linetest.nz/ for my speed

Then slingshot in my account online, a connection speed test that goes from them to my modem.

Slingshot has a page on there site that they say goes form them to my modem

Right the slingshot speedtest indicates things are great.

Don't use a browser based speedtest, at the very least use speedtest.net, ideally install the app & use that.

I don't think there is anything wrong. Try to a Vocus server & see what you get. That inspire server is often a bit slow.

You're best to get the speedtest app from the MS store and use that. Browser based tested are often not accurate when you get to those speeds.

Just use the speedtest app, I linked to it earlier, and test to a Vocus server. Vocus own slingshot. There is no Vocus speedtest server in Palmy - just Auckland & Chch.

I only mentioned Inspire because that's the server you tested to when you used speedtest.net

Speedtest app looks like this. To change server, click on the server name in blue, and scroll down until you find a Vocusgroup server.

I just did a speedtest to that Chch server from a 2Degrees connection & got the following result. I'd expect yours to be even better, given that you are coming from inside their network.

Cool, downstream is a little on the low side, but that could be many things, almost certainly not something at Slingshot's end though. I'd believe the speeds slingshot are showing you in their portal are correct.
