Hi I'm with 2D fibre. The connection stopped suddenly this afternoon. I'm wondering if it's the ONT (Huawei HG8250H) because the power light is blinking and none of the other indicator lights are on. Router (RT-AX3000) indicator lights are fine except the WAN is red. Have tried turning everything on/off to no avail.
Thanks in advance for any help.

What did 2degrees support say when you called them?

Fair question.

In retrospect I should've posted in https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=66 rather than here - didn't see that before, my bad. I think the ONT came with the house and not from 2D, hence posted and didn't call.

If the mods can move this thread, please do so.

Curiously, using a different power adapter for the ONT has solved the problem. So it seems the ONT's original power adapter is faulty. I've not dealt with ONT problems before - how do I get a replacement power adapter?

I've seen https://www.chorus.co.nz/contact/ont-replacement but that appears to be a 6 pin plug into the ONT, whereas mine is a barrel.

A flashing green power LED doesn't seem to be a valid condition for these, at least according to the manuals I've found. I think you need to call 2D.

Failed firmware update from the LFC is my first guess.

If you have a Huawei ONT, then I don't think you are in a Chorus LFC area, maybe hit up Enable or Tuatahi Fibre for PSU replacement depending on where you are located?

Just select the right ONT type and they send the right PSU.

I have noted in the past through various misfortune that not giving the ONT enough volts will result in the power LED flashing and nothing else happening

Does the ONT have any branding on it? Chorus and Enable usually put their sticker on every ONT they install. You're probably in a Tuatahi First Fibre area if you have a Huawei ONT and no stickers. Search up Broadband Map on google and you can see which LFC area you are in. However, if you don't know you're region call 2degrees, and they will order a replacement PSU.

Thanks all.

Duh, brain clearly on holiday mode, I'm in Christchurch and ergo Enable not Chorus.

Have sent 2D a message.

chorus - likley puts a sticker on

enable - in the early days, not hardly.  I’ve seen heaps of them without stickers (unless it’s on the underside).

No sticker, and there's an Enable labelled stake in the ground outside the property along the walking path.

As it turns out, not really a 2D problem after all, they've told me to contact Enable, whose Service Centre Team looks to be off until 8/1/2023 (https://help.enable.net.nz/hc/en-us).

Anyway, hooray for hoarding (and the spare adapter).

Chorus bought enough ONTs that they got the logo laser-etched or screen printed onto the front, instead of the manufacturer (ALU) logo.

If it's a fault like that they should be logging it and sending it off to Enable (as is my understanding), not just passing the buck and telling you to call them.

You're not one of those people that move house and take the ONT power supply with you are you....?

You may well be right @quickymart.

However, given 2D's first response, to my message asking for a replacement ONT power adapter, was that the problem was resolved, I'll cut my losses and deal with Enable directly.

@huckster - the spare adapter is from an old router. If I was going to take the previous house's ONT PSU, I'd take the ONT too. Go big or go home ;p
