"Hot-on-the-heels of the death of Telecom's 'Big Time' broadband offer, telco Slingshot has announced its first attempt at an all-you-can-eat plan.

Launching on August 19, the appropriately-named 'All You Can Eat' plan will be limited to 10,000 spots on a first-come, first-served basis.

General Manager Scott Page says the company has learned from Telecom's ill-fated forays into uncapped broadband...."

Spots on the All You Can Eat plan can be reserved by emailing allyoucaneat@team.slingshot.co.nz.

hmmm

So I wonder if this IS actually all you can eat unlimited full speed or does some fair and reasonable use policy apply?

Doing your best is much more important than being the best.

Interested to see how much will it cost for the plan.In the 3news website they say it's under $80 per month....will it be $79.99/month?

Oh noes! I was expecting speeds to drop already with big time customers migrating across for the free offpeak.
I really hope they dedicate bandwidth just for this plan so us existing users dont suffer. I also hope they dont apply the inevitable traffic shaping for this plan onto other customers.

Ive got six months of contract with them left :(

at least if you join it you know even if it doesn't work , SS will not stop it for a while, the last thing they want is Telecom laughing at them and saying "I told you so"

Wonder if it will be a naked option or have other useless services needed as a prerequisite that they are not mentioning in their price.

10000 is a lot of connections, so I don't think they will sell out to quickly. Also if telecom can't do it, why does a telecom reseller think they can.Obviously they are trying to mop up the cusomters coming off telecoms plan. But it doesn't mean that telecom won't introduce their own plan in the future to undercut them. I think they may need to clean up their cusomter service first, before they take on new cusomters, from all the complaints I have seen on trademe.

You should be able to change plans without breaking your contract, your not leaving slingshot for a different ISP.

dedicate bandwidth, I think they would do that as they did it with their NakedDSL service.

Well I think I'll hold of trying to get parents to switch. Like the guy above said, if Telecom couldnt do it, why would someone who is effectivly selling Telecom services think they could pull it off? How many people were on Big Time by the way? Because if this plan has a limit of 10K people then that could possibly mean less people using up all the bandwidth.
