I have a relatively unused nokia 1100 that I just purchased a 2 degrees sim for. However it is not working properly. AFter inserting the sim and turning on the phone, it comes up '2degrees' on the screen. It shows reception. However when I try to phone 200, it comes up with 'No Sim', and the reception then goes down to zero. Now it is showing no reception and the '2degrees sign has disappeared too' It is set to automatic for the network selection. Worked fine previously on Vodafone. Anyone know why it could be doing this?

Have you tried the SIM in another phone?

Yes, I tried it in a nokia 3230 and it worked, although it kept texting me the network settings, which I couldn't stop. But the nokia 1100 does work perfectly with the vodafone sim. I am wondering if vodafone has locked it. I have got a 2 degrees sim working on another 1100 before, when they were giving away the cards.

Thanks, it will be an old version, as it hasn't been updated. I think firmware updates can only be done by nokia or repair agents, so it doesn't look positive.

Must be the firmware, as I have tried it in another 1100 and it works.
It doesn't work on firmware v6.64, but does work on v 5.62

Scratch that. It isn't working properly in either nokia phone. Just tried phoning an 0800 number with it, and it comes up with No Sim. I don't know if it is something to do with switching my number too. I processed the number switch yesterday, and it says it will take between 1-24 hours, and I would receive a text after it has changed. But 24 hours later no text,so I don't know if it has switched or not. Not a happy new 2 degrees customer.

Thanks, I didn't think so, and as I haven't had confirmation from 2 degrees, I would presume it hasn't switched yet. Suppose it could be a faulty card, or a compatibility problem with nokia 1100 models, but there is no mention on their website. But my old $2 degrees card definitely worked fine when it was still active, so I don't think it was the firmware, and even then, it is not possible to update that practically. But I obviously can't use 2 degrees when the connection keeps dropping out, sometimes it does works, sometimes it doesn't.

Try a new SIM just to be on the safe side, I am sure 2Degrees could help out there

Yes, if you call the helpdesk they can get you a new one. If you PM me your number I'll check the porting process, but it sounds to me more like the confirmation text can't be delivered due to some problem with the SIM.

Thanks. I did email 2 degrees last night with the problem with the sim card, but they replied with a response that indicated that they hadn't read my email. They told me to do, what I had already said in the emal that I already had done. eg. try it in another phone etc. This was ref Ref: 2665619
