benmurphy66: Just a little update from my experience. Just changed my plan, takes effect at the end of this billing cycle so next month. they confirmed that rollover minutes and bonus data will be applied. I personally went down to the $29 plan with the 500 meg bonus data.

Did you do the plan change over the phone (call centre) or online or instore?

Has anyone of us who bought the 16GB S3 from 2Degrees had the sudden death issue..?

If yes then how was it handled and how long before you got it back.

Yes, we have 2 16GB S3's and both of them died last weekend within 24 hours of each other. Took them back to Glenfield Mall 2degrees on Sunday. One of them came back today, I would hope the other one will be back tomorrow and we can go pick them up.

It was handled well, the staff seemed to know about the issue but at the same time weren't able to say "oh yes they all do that". That's the only thing that really pisses me off -- if there's a systemic issue, tell me about it, don't just leave me to cope with 2 dead phones while out of town on holiday.

They were definitely the sudden death issue - one was working while plugged in at 4am Saturday and dead by 8am, the other one gave the "reboot" buzz on Sunday morning (not plugged in) and when I looked at it some time later it was stuck on the initial Samsung logo screen. Both were stock 4.1.1 and not rooted or ROM'd.

Wow - you should find out more on the whole Sudden Death Syndrome issue so you that you can make an informed comment rather than trolling out something so random!!

It's a worldwide issue with S3's with a certain version/firmware of eMMC chips - NOT anything any vendor is installing.

Are samsung sweeping it under the carpet like the wifi issues with the S2 and notes?

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Samsung seem to be handling the issue well, why would you make a bigger fuss about than necessary?

I haven't heard any stories about people being turned down under warranty

OK got ours back today, so that's 4-5 days total. I'm happy with that.

Actually, I need to apologise as I had thought I'd seen you posting in the S3 owners thread recently (in which case you couldn't help but know about this), but I was wrong about that (it was someone else posting that I mistook for you).

So it is entirely possible you were not aware of the S3 SDS issue.

old3eyes, I am sorry for my earlier comments towards you.

Nor I, making announcements can cause more issues than just replacing parts as Samsung are doing now with S3. If it were all S3's then I'd be hoping they recalled but as it isn't there seems no need to panic.

I signed up my contract on 4 August 2013 so my six months runs out on 4 Feb 2013 (not long to go)

Do I wait until after the 4th to change my plan or can I change it now to be effective from the 4th?

Also - can others confirm that the bonus data (500MB or 1GB ) still applies? Seem to get conflicting reports reading this thread.
