What is stopping me is that if I go skiing down to Mt Ruapehu I need a completely separate data plan compared to the "Major Cities" data plan where 2degrees have their own network towers.
If it was one plan with enough cap I would consider moving over to them.

Vodafone 3G coverage is shocking on my iPhone 3GS and always falls back to GPRS.
With XT at least I know it will always be full speed and not fall back.
So I am still deciding who to move to.

SteveON: Its just a sms... The only reason it annoys people is that they have a lack of friends and when they receive a text they are all excited... But the dissapointment of finding out that its only their provider leaves them with a negative feeling.

I resent that suggestion. When I'm extremely busy the disruption of the alert and having to open and delete the thing is extremely annoying even if it only sidetracks me for a few seconds. The number of friends I have is completely irrelevant and I have no idea why you would bring that into it.

On the other hand I appreciate Salty's point, and some customisation options would be the ideal solution.

could you set your phone up so a txt from 2D has a different ringtone?

and really, how long does it take to read an SMS - 5 seconds max. are you *that* busy

It's not the time taken that bothers me - it's the disruption.

2degrees can never satisfy EVERYBODY.

i always appreciate reminder sms/email from 2degrees or any other companies. i could get busy at times and forgot what need to be done.

The most annoying txt i received from 2 degrees was a txt informing me that they now had XXXXX customers on their network, I felt that was irrelevant.

Also I am on postpaid plan with autopayment via credit card and i get the following txts

**

1. Hi. We've emailed this month's bill for $89.36. Payment is due 13 Apr. You're setup for auto payment on the due date.

2. Hi there. Just a little reminder that your bill of $89.36 is due in -2 days. To make a payment please visit Your 2degrees. Thanks

3. Hi there. Thanks for your payment. This has now been credited to your account. Have a great day.

**

Text #2 is irrelevant as I have auto payment.  Text #3 is also somewhat un-necessary.  I like Text #1 as I can keep an eye on how much I am spending.
