Bee: So if this is compatible to Snapper only then it will be useless in Auckland? NZ's biggest population by far...
Yet another "amazing" bit of Technology that no-one can use...

One of my cards has "Visa Paywave" but Im yet to find anywhere I can use that...

You get better weather, all the concert, and sporting events.  And you are going to complain about Snapper?

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll do a deal with the MyHop services soon. Whoops forgot to add, I'm sure the Thales is more to do with encryption rather than hardware.  So it'll just need a different app to run it.

Edit: Bus looks awesome :) will be on the look out for it at lunch today

The bus is currently parked in front of the office where I work.  I'm looking forward to finding out more detail later.

Regarding Hop/Snapper

I was confused when I went to wellington whether Hop and snapper were the same, so I scanned my Hop card on the bus and the fare was deducted...
My belief since then (september) was that hop cards are the same cards on the same system and just have a different brand/picture printed on it.
Snapper exists in Auckland anyway at dairys and the like doesn't it ? (never used it, whats wrong with bank cards?)

So theres a chance a touch2pay will work on hop anyway and they are just rolling out in wellington first for whatever reason.

Challenge: Dump the ROM, pull out the App + related system files and get it working on a Galaxy Nexus (or other NFC Devices). :D

Ahh what? Snapper should get into Mana Coach Services and the Rail Network.

Yes! I would love this as I live in the outer suburbs. Would be great to just load up the snapper card with bus fees and just bus all the way home without having to deal with coins.

Yes, that would make it *much* more useful in Auckland!

Too bad we have no openings in 2degrees core network design at the moment then, eh? ;-)
