4.1.2 should be rolled out in the next 2 weeks.

Hi 2DegreesCare, is 4.1.2 coming to all phones on your network or just Galaxy S3.
I have Sony Xperia Go on 4.0.4

Does this new update (4.1.2) fix the sudden death issue.. Or do we still have to live in fear of the SDS..?

From what some people have said, I think we still need to live in fear of potential SDS. For most it will never occur, but for a small number it will.

How would someone get on if SDS occurred several months out of warranty I wonder?

I have this latest update and phone is still dropping calls and randomly turning off everyday.
I need to pull the battery and restart it.

The "fix"as such doesn't stop it happening if you have the symptoms then it could well continue till it fails to boot entirely.

There was a discussion o XDA that the fix can, in some  cases, fix itself so just needs to be left but being XDA forums there is so much going on the facts can be a bit blurred.

"The "Sudden Death" issue is caused by firmware on the (16 GB) VTU00M, revision 0xf1 eMMC (Embedded MultiMedia Card or internal memory if you like). Samsungs Kernel Source Code (Update 7) has been identified as the fix. There is still no evidence that the latest sboot bootloader addresses this issue.

Although we are still not quite 100% Certain this will prevent all S3's suffering the SDS (Predisposition to the fault etc), to the best of our knowledge it does. Even if it does not fully fix it, its closer to a fix and safer than older versions, so if its within your means to do so, an update would be advised.
