I believe it's on for 10 days by default.

Do you not consider discussion regarding snap VDSL connections relevant in a thread about snap VDSL?

The latter parts of the thread are general VDSL questions and technical issues which I personally consider better in it's own discussion where it will attract people better suited to answer as the topic subject will indicate the discussion more accurately.

It's also more likely to help others.

Just my 2c, I have no specific say in moderation.

SamF:That looks very similar to mine before I did all my cabling changes. I think you may well be able to get better speeds as your error and attenuation levels are currently fairly high. If you're interested I'd recommend looking at your wiring etc and seeing if there's anything you can improve on that front as this seems to have made quite a bit of overall difference for me. Do you know how far you are from the cabinet?

Wouldn't have a clue how far I am from the cabinet, I think there is one just around the corner form me tho...
As for the wwiring in the house, there are a couple of normal phone jacks, plus to unused sky ones, but I wouldn't have a clue how to go about finding where it goes from the street,, or how to disconnect the unused ones, knowing my luck if I tried it I would end up losing my internet connection lol (and calling chorus out to fix it isn't an option, money too tight atm)

I may have to wait a little longer than anticipated. I just called Snap (as I haven't heard from provisioning) to get an update on when I will be charged for the Fritzbox and when I should expect delivery, etc (as I'm going on leave for few days and want to select the best delivery address so it won't get sent to a collection center over an hours drive away...). I ordered around 4pm on the 12th June. I have been informed they have run out Frtzbox's due to demand and are awaiting a shipment to arrive from Germany. If it hasn't arrived before the swap over from Orcon on the 11th July, I should be put on the Snap ADSL plan as an interim measure until the Fritz arrives.

I'm just wondering if this is still going to be the 7340 model as or the later 7360 or 7390? Can anyone from Snap please confirm?

I'm finally in my new house, and my Snap is up and running on naked ADSL2+
Connection Speed 16792 Kbps 1273 Kbps
Line Attenuation 9.5 dB 4.7 dB
Noise Margin 12.1 dB 12.6 dB

That's on a modem I know is faulty, and this house has 8 phone sockets and no splitter. So I think I'll go for VDSL2 :)

What is everyone's current latency according to the Fritz DSL stats? Mine started out at 8 which is up from I think 3 on ADSL2, but now sits at 15-16. I guess I have interleaving on at the moment? Hopefully this will be disabled once DLM finishes it's tests etc.

Napster:Is it still changing profiles every night? It should eventually change once a week.

How would I tell if it's changing profiles?

The Fritzbox will tell you under the DSL info area from memory.

Well, it say's '8b' for the profile, but that's the standard 'up to 50mbit' profile which doesn't change AFAIK. I think Napster was referring to some 'behind the scenes' SNR / Latency profile...

I am going to see how long it takes for DLM to move me back to the 1ms profile.

So can confirm that DLM still monitors the line even after a few months.

Sam, you will see INP and Latency change. That is when DLM has moved you to a new profile.

INP is 0.0, 0.0 and Latency is 15, 16.

The latency seems to have been hovering around 14-16 lately, whereas previously it was 8. Is a 1ms latency difference considered an indication of a profile change?

BTW, I found this on DLM which explains a bit about how it works. It's from the perspective of a BT service, but I think most of it is relevant to us. This also has some useful info.

Napster: In a recent GPForums post you mentioned tweaking the FritzBox's DSL stability settings to get yourself onto a profile without interleaving on. What did you change to get that to happen?
