So is this issue just in Auckland & Whangarei? This thread is gargantuan and its tough to see who still has problems and where they are.

I'm in Wanganui, still getting poor speeds. Used to be a solid 27-28 regardless of time for the past couple years, since April its 23 max, 15ish past 6PM...
Have been through the help desk, been sending in results using the Orcon diagnostic tool...

I am in East Auckland.. Having throughput problems though thankfully I'm on 100/20 fibre so it is not as critical.. My main issue is with the latency as I am mainly gaming..only get an hour or two a day, and sucks when your ping is over 170 to Sydney for entire matches, and the hops show a huge latency always between two orcon nodes.

Definitely some sort of routing issue at the ISP end.. Supposedly has been sorted a couple of times until it rears it's head again, generally during busy periods.

I have left two tickets for its helpdesk, and sent statistics the same as the above post, and then get no correspondence for my trouble.

In Central Auckland here, still experiencing slower speeds during peak times. Normally 95MB/s down, now during peak it's 65-70MB/s.

I went through helpdesk as well, diagnostic tool wouldn't send automatically so I manually sent.. don't think they got it and I think the ticket got closed - I didn't mind at the time cause I found this thread and saw Orcon was aware and working on it.

Appreciate those of you who have commented after my last with your locations and that the issues are ongoing. I've spoken with some folk in the Orcon teams, this is known that there is issues with throughput at peak times. A solution is and has been being worked, how & when it is to be implemented to fix the problem is still unknown, so while the only real news I can pass onto you all is that its known and being worked on unfortunately.

Xanzoken: In Central Auckland here, still experiencing slower speeds during peak times. Normally 95MB/s down, now during peak it's 65-70MB/s.

Seeing as that is still more than three times ADSL speed during peak, I really don't see a problem with that level of service. It would still be very functional imho

This has been mentioned numerous times, however, again as it seems to be getting missed more and more. Core nodes de-prioritze ICMP packets (Tracert & ping/ echo) at peak times when there is simply more important traffic to pass. So it is common and even normal operation, to see 1000ms+ responses or even none from those nodes during peak and it not be indicative of a fault - They are configured to do exactly that!

I'm still getting issues in Whangarei. Happily sitting at 75Mbps/57mbps D/U but that will soon drop as soon as it hits 2PM and latency will start going up too till about 11PM.(Normally my streaming time but since it's incredibly jittery OBS can and will drop the stream multiple times)

I can't contest this as I never ran a ping on Dial up. Was to young to understand this networking mumbo jumbo at the time, but that analogy gets used an awful lot.
I'm not discrediting that you're getting mud service on peak times, my ADSL gets hit with the same crap every so often too. Just not every night like you all seem to be getting

I used to be able to pull a low 130 on old Ihug Dialup haha that was to Wellington mind you .. but yes we're talking 15 years ago now! Just frustrating when you sit down after a long day, and you can't have a decent game in the little time you got spare is all ! You know how it is. It's not every night, just often, and so consistently bad when it is bad. Then all of sudden it will go back to 27-30ms rock solid with no jitter.
