This hasn't worked properly for me for a while now. The last 5 calls that have come through to the app have not been answerable. That is, the iPhone rings and from my lock screen I can launch the Genius Go app, but once it launches I either can't tap on Answer as it remains greyed out, or when I do tap on Answer and the call picks up I can't hear anyone on the other end and vice versa.

I'm not even sure the call is connecting at all.

And just now when I tried to answer a call the Genius router stopped ringing as though the call was picked up, but the iPhone just kept ringing in my ear while I was saying Hello.

This is an unusable app in its current state.

the few times ive managed to answer an incoming call with this app have been when I've not long opened the app previously, so it re-opens quickly and catches the incoming call

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

sdav: Hi,

I just got back from the US where I tried it a couple of times. At LAX it worked fine on their free wifi but in other hotels they either blocked VoIP or the wifi was so poor it didn't work. Clearly not the apps fault, just crappy wifi. When it did work though it was fine so that's cool.

A weird bug I found was that I had approx 4 missed calls while I was away. They came from "anonymous" and a number I didn't catch because they never saved in the missed calls log but did display as notifications on the lock screen. I think on each occasion the calls came when I was out and about and not connected to wifi.

I also find it difficult to answer a ringing call in time as I hear nothing, but then I don't know if that was due to poor wifi from the hotel.

I am in the USA for 5 weeks now.I could manage to get 2 call out, all other calls I tried did not go at all. I am receiving my calls ok. Since 4.5 weeks Orcon is trying to fix the problem. Yesterday they suggested to reinstall the refurbished APP and now I can t link to my home phone. Now I even can not receive calls anymore. I am not very happy.

Yeah I found mine was very dependent on the wifi. I'm not sure what Orcon can do at their end to improve it but on what seems an average connection it is really hard to use.

We are making quite a lot of changes in the backend to fix some of these issues. A new release is coming soon with bug fixes as well.

We havent looked at new features just yet, we want the core app to more stable before we go changing it.

I have just noticed with Genius Go that I cannot disable it. In the past I could change settings to not receive calls from home. I did not want calls diverting if someone was at home so would disable Go and all would be fine. Now even though the settings are disabled I still get calls diverted out to my cellphone after some 5 rings.
has there been a change to the way Go works?

Hopefully that's one of the bugs Paul referred to above!

I'll check. I am not as across the voice side as i possibly could be.
I wasnt aware of any changes, though big changes are coming to that part of the solution.

Guys, try 2talk - they have servers in NZ, USA, Europe, Australia so it works really well wherever you are.
They also use SSL for connections so it gets through firewalls as the SSL port is open. Iphone and android apps are available

Morning Team,

I have been using Genius Go and am very happy with it as our house line died and didnt want to purchase a new one.

Now since I am away from the house during the day my wife and I have tried to get Genius Go on her iPhone and it is saying "Opps something went wrong try again later" I know that the username and password are correct.

Does Genius Go allow the app to be installed on Multiple Mobiles? This would make sense?

Your reply would be awesome.

Regards

Yes it supports up to 5 other devices, the first linked to the home line is free.
If you drop me your orcon account number i can take a look at what is happening, and why you get the 'Opps'.

Of course, the microsoft question is, have you reinstalled the app?

Thanks for this app Orcon. Have used it a few times now including my last trip overseas to Europe and it seems to work very well on Wifi. Long delays tho when using 3G but that's probably fair enough and will hopefully resolve with 4G coming :)
