Orcon is introducing today the Orcon Genius Go, a mobile client for its Genius phone service.

With Orcon Genius Go you can user your smartphone as an extension of your home line. Incoming calls will ring at home and on Orcon Genius Go. You can place calls from your smartphone as you were using your home line.

Our very own moderator XPD has been using the service and posted a review here.

Receiving calls and making calls via your landline is for Orcon Genius and LLU customers only (as they have their phone number with Orcon).

Anyone else can download Genius Go and call and IM other Genius Go users for free (much like other messaging apps).

Too cool. I'm heading overseas in a couple of weeks so I'll give this a blast.

Thanks guys - we are pretty proud of it - it's been a big project, and there's been some long hours go into it (including many from some of the people who post on this forum).
Please try it, let us know what you think, and ask any questions you might have.
We plan to continually develop it - so feedback is welcomed.
Cheers!

Installed this earlier today. IM works very well, even though not an Orcon customer.

Tried to use the dialpad to call a number (non-Orcon) and instead of just telling me "naughty boy, you aren't an Orcon customer, try your phone instead" it just went quiet, no feedback.

Other than this, IM worked fine this morning with XPD...

Hmmm.. I can't connect mine for some reason...

Just needed a reinstall of the app. If I call my home phone from the go app will the world end?

Also, can you have more than one phone connected and will the home phone still ring (Edit it does)? I'm just imagining I'm not at home and can't answer my phone, will it work on my wife's?

You can have up to 5 phones connected to your home number. Each will ring at the same time.
This is no limit to the number of installs when you are not connected to the home number though.

Also not you can disable incoming calls from your home number if you want in the settings.

Cool. Thank you, you obviously predicted arguments over who had to receive all the home calls while at work!

That and the issue of getting telemarketing calls while you are in meetings, awesome for getting out of boring meetings but not so awesome you actual want them to call.

You can dial 789 and it will go to your voice mail.

There isnt a graphical interface to it.
