@ripdog Makes a big improvement on call quality for sure! Did VoLTE just go live today?

I live in Whanganui, so can't say sorry. Just noticed it on my trip to palmy today. Still waiting back home.

Hi everyone, just an update from 2degrees on this.

Thanks for your patience. I can assure you that our Core Network team have done a lot of work on this, and made a large number of changes which we are confident have improved the call quality. We’re treating this seriously and our teams have been meeting and doing lots of testing to ensure noticeable, tangible improvements, and this work is still ongoing. Sometimes scenarios like this one are complicated, as factors in RAN conditions and other networks can also play a part in call quality.

To give you an overview of some of the extensive work that has been done; We have shortened and optimised the call path, re-organised the hardware capacity, introduced a new type of transcoder, prioritised the high quality codec, and have done loads of inter-network testing. We’re also enabling a new feature which we believe will continue to deliver improvements.

Thanks very much for your patience on this and providing information to us. In order for us to further check and make more improvements if possible, it would be immensely helpful if you can please provide us specific info where you’ve had a call quality issue in the past 7-10 days only (e.g. muffled/inaudible) . If you can please PM me: caller number, called number and the specific time the call took place, this would be great! I’ll pass it directly onto our network team.

Thanks in advance,

Morgan

Just did some testing and Handover from WiFi calling to VoLTE and VoLTE back to WiFi calling is now working no issues

3 - 4 weeks ago coming back into WiFi calling from VoLTE the call would drop and this is no long happening

This is awesome and tested multiple times

Is the sound qual on Wifi Calling any better? (as in good as what we'd expect on VoLTE)

Just tried a call with and without Wifi Calling enabled, the non-wificalling call was much better sound qual wise so going to leave it off.

When I had it turned on there was a bit of a grainy type sound.

And we are now officially moving back to spark. 2 Degrees just lost the account for 12 devices. We just could not wait any longer.

Hi there, sorry to hear this - I don't know if you saw my update last week, but this should all be significantly improved now.

As mentioned in my thread, we will need specific examples of calls with issues so we can continue to investigate. So far I have only had 1 person get in touch with this info, so assume the call quality has improved significantly, which is fantastic

Cheers,

Hi, as per my earlier message, it would be really helpful if you can PM me details of this call (caller, called number, date and time) and we can look into it.

Thanks

DM sent, noting it is Wifi Calling that sounds a bit off compared to standard 3G which to a landline sounded fine.
