hmm while others offer 200 down orcon struggles to do 100

, sadly not the number one provider of fibre anymore.

I got tired of waiting for the issue to be fixed and switched ISPs and I'm back to my regular 90-95/43 speeds again...

If you haven't moved house I guess this indicates (for your case) that the issue isn't in the "last mile".

Yeah definitely isn't a "last mile" issue, since i'm still at the same place and my neighbours never had that issue.

who did you switch too and how did you plan dates so not to get f* over by orcon like others

If your not on a chorus network sign up with the new ISP and get them to liven up Port 2 on the ONT :)

Most problems are the result of previous solutions...

Looking like it. My ticket has STILL yet to be looked at. Ringing them back up on Wednesday if I don't hear anything. This is pathetic.

This is not, Orcon used to be able to provide close to max 95~/45~ like every other Isp can.
They say these speeds are not normal but won't say when they will get their services back to normal.
A lot of customers had their services downgraded when they performed the "updrade" early april.
Been two or so months no one knows if this will even be fixed.

Been having similar problems with Orcon in Dunedin too. About a month/2 ago we started having awful internet sometimes during the day, mostly during nights. Some websites don't load, slow Youtube buffering, awful ping (150+ for league), trouble connecting to steam. This is tested with no one on the network, no downloads etc. Support isn't having much luck. They're doing a 10 day report thing now. Posting here to keep updated on any solutions/updates.

100/50 and 30/10 plans the offer
the 100/50 caps to 70/50
and 30/10 caps to 20/10

why is the 30/10 having trouble maxing out I have no idea how the networks work but
this seems like traffic management?

Do these services ever get above the reduced rates? Slow down due to congestion at some times of day but rising to full rates at quiet times wouldn't suggest rate limiting. Multiple posts here suggest the rates to local servers do vary but it isn't clear to me whether full rates are still seen at times.

I haven't once seen a burst even close to the constant 27/9 I used to get consistently for the past couple years since the April issues. Was getting 20Mb at 9am this morning on my 30/10 UFB connection

Currently (8:40pm 1/6/15) getting 43ms to AUCKLAND from AUCKLAND on my 100/30 UFB .. getting speeds of .. well .. see for yourself

Even though my 30/10 has stayed at 29/9 with no variation, I am worried by the lack of response to this problem. The previous expert help and explanation has been one of the reasons I would be loathe to jump ship.

We all should expect to have some enlightenment. We pay the bills and we expect better treatment. And we are also not going to be in a position to recommend friends and relations to join up.

Call me disillusioned even though my speed is fine (for now).

Good luck guys, but luck shouldn't enter into it.
