Unfortunately I can't switch until another provider gets Wi-Fi calling.

I have to put up with it until that happens. :(

You may not have long to wait, someone received a carrier update on their iPhone for Wifi Calling on Vodafone but it didn't connect so will assume the launch is very soon.

Since 2degrees isn't my main carrier anymore and hasn't been for over a year I decided to grab a 2degrees sim and make a phone call to it.

Yep it sounds pretty atrocious and my fiancée could not make out anything I was saying.

VF VoLTE outbound > 2degrees non VoLTE inbound.

@morganbrowne can you advise or not if any further work is planned around Sound Qual? Based on the above (and my DM) it looks like further work is still needed.

Can confirm that I’m still getting distinctive poor call quality when receiving calls from or making calls to 2 Degrees.

When I’m next in the Bay, will migrate a couple of relatives connections from 2D and potentially onto VFNZ or Kogan.

Are Two Degrees doing anything funny (eg. Routing calls overseas? ) to route these calls to other carriers? Or are they going direct to the respective carriers?

Legitimately baffled by how this hasn't been addressed.
@MorganBrowne my suggestion to you is to reach out to your NOC/Network Engineering team and advise them there are consistent call quality issues over GSM/3G/VoLTE when calls route outside the 2degrees network to Spark and Vodafone mobiles.
I don't know if this issue occurs going to Voice over Fibre or any other non-mobile handover, I know that call quality is good to Spark PSTN circuits though.
Given the reports on GZ I'd wager it's network wide impact, and the lack of reporting would be due to customers not noticing the gradual loss of call quality or attributing it to other factors.
Get them a Vodafone Prepaid sim and a Spark Prepaid sim, the calls are impacted regardless of which network the calls originate from. Hell, I'd be shocked if those devices don't sit on one of your engineers Desks right now.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

Hi there, I don't know if you read earlier comments but we have a full working group from NOC/Engineering working on this. They're aware of these messages as I pass them onto them and as also previously mentioned, a large number of changes have been made to continuously improve. This continues and whenever you have a specific example of a specific call, I send this to them to analyse which helps in further improvements. Thanks

I will comment that I think the sound qual to Landlines has got better, however calls from Mobiles not so. I've passed on a few examples of calls from Vodafone mobile that don't sound good.

Any updates on this?  I am considering moving over to 2deg but not until this is sorted!

After many months of utter frustration, and virtually no improvement in sound quality I ported my wife and myself to Kogan (VF network) and I've been extremely pleased with the sound quality and reliability on all calls. VoLTE works consistently. I'd give 2D another try in future if they improve. I must say I was very disappointed that the $10 discount I get on my Ultra broadband account (for having a 2D pay monthly mobile) was removed as soon as I ported, despite my 2D mobile account still being current and not due until October as it's charged in arrears. That wasn't nice.

@morganbrowne Is anything on going for the call quality issues? 2degrees are losing customers over this

To receive a mobile discount on broadband you link a mobile number that is on a pay monthly plan to your broadband account. It does not seem surprising that this would end as soon as that mobile number is no longer active on a pay monthly plan with them.

@Spong it will just be a automated script that runs once every 24 hours to remove the discount

I do realise that, but I was just annoyed because if I'd ported about 5 x days later (while the mobile account was still current) but after the monthly invoice was generated for my ultra broadband, it wouldn't have happened. My fault entirely. :-(
