VoLTE is now showing in Hamilton - with HD calling.  Sounds great :)

The only thing to note is this doesn't solve the cross-network call quality issue. 2degrees to Spark for example is still terrible.

Sounds good to me calling Spark mobile number from 2d VoLTE

I'm on VoLTE and my family is on Spark/Skinny. Sounds absolutely terrible still. It is OK to Vodafone (still not 100%). The core problem is still there and VoLTE doesn't solve this.

I have a Samsung Note 9 and notice some calls are not good . I found making a call and getting calls from different landlines is good but sometimes issues are there . When making or getting call from a vodafone number ,I can hear person but the other person can't hear . Now I found Spark is better , the call quality is better than vodafone and person can hear .

So hope 2 degress network team can check and solve it . I been with them for many years and don't like to see this .

@MorganBrowne

Yes , I do have a volte connection

@Linux it is literally the same problem as discussed in this entire thread. Again, VoLTE doesn’t solve it. My parents have VoLTE on their phones on Spark and yet voice quality cross-network is terrible.

You can replicate this by simply phoning a Spark or Vodafone mobile number. If you want to test this in quite happy for you to call my Spark number on both a 2degrees and Vodafone sim.

As previously discussed time etc doesn’t matter. But it’s also clear as the problem is getting worse that 2degrees have not done anything at all to fix this.

My only issue is on the iPhone 13 you can’t turn it off on Spark. Some low coverage areas of northland drop calls on VoLTE but work fine on 3G. Not being able to fall back to 3G sucks.

The call quality and call set up times are great. No issues calling 2D users…

Now try calling the same number from Vodafone and compare voice quality... There is an actual issue (I'm not just making this up) but I find it very, very strange you're not admitting to it right now when literally everyone is experiencing it.

I can honestly say I haven't experienced this issue since VoLTE being enabled where I am. It's not to say others aren't still experiencing it but wonder if the situation has improved at least for some customers for whatever reason.

I haven't done it and thanks for letting me know . I thought all three company now have volte .

If I'm right vodafone and spark were ahead in volte than 2 degrees came later on .

I also saw vodafone were faster in rolling out 5g than Spark.

I can be wrong so please correct me if I'm wrong .

2degrees completed their nationwide VoLTE rollout a few days ago. Not to say everyone is on VoLTE though, you still need a VoLTE compatible phone and 4G coverage.

Again guys. The problem isn't related to VoLTE at all. Please stay on topic.

VoLTE has no effect on the cross-network calls at-least in Wellington and other places in NZ. I've also had my sister (in Auckland) complain that since my parents switched back to Spark calls have become very hard to hear them properly. All parties have newer devices and are all on VoLTE. Both my sister and I have iPhones also and we both have VoLTE enabled on our phones.

To really understand the problem you need a phone on either Spark or Vodafone and call somebody on 2degrees. It is super clear cross-network between Spark / Vodafone but to 2degrees it is terrible even with VoLTE. This problem is actually getting worse and not better. I think I am going to be forced off to Spark fully soon because of this.

Again I'm not for a second challenging your or (from what you are saying the vast majority of other peoples) experience but I'm not experiencing it myself anymore.

From my own purely personal experience I frequently experienced the cross network call quality issue whilst on 3G calling and haven't experienced it once since I've been calling through VoLTE.

Again... not trying to say that VoLTE fixes this but it has certainly improved it (to the point I'd say solved) on my own personal connection.

So I'd say it is somewhat still on topic, especially if 2degrees tech support still view these forums at all and it helps them identify a trend of who is and isn't experiencing issue. And even keep their own troubleshooting alive despite maybe them no-longer seeing an issue on their side (again, maybe through their test device being one of those lucky VoLTE connections that seems to be ok).

EDIT: And to be clear, as I commented in a previous post in this thread, I do not have any love for 2degrees in the way they have handled this ongoing problem and the poor communication / seeming lack of interest or belief of it being an issue.
