DjShadow: They are hinting on Twitter 200 gig for under $100

So does that mean I can get 100Gig for under $50???

How about 25Gig Plus phone plus unlimited NZ calls for $75?

The new plans are out

http://www.orcon.net.nz/about/article/orcon_boosts_genius_plans

Just as i expected, they are just genius plans, the big middle finger to the rest of the country that can't get it

Surely this can’t be it.   they quite clearly said

"Everybody will be happy campers"

“everybody”  means they must be improving ALL plans, not just a select few of the genius ones.

so far the standard plans remain the same, as do the entry level ones, as do the fibre plans.

It is just the genius plans as they have confirmed on twitter.. "Everybody will be happy campers" - typical marketing!

If they advertised 'everybody', then that is what is really should apply to. But perhaps they believe that the people that it doesn't apply to, are already happy campers?

1000Gig for $199?

At first glance this sounds good but tell me - how does a home user use 33Gig a day everyday???

Seems like a money making scam to me... sign up for 1000Gig and if you use less than 200Gig then Orcon make a big profit! if you use the full 1000Gig they will come and investigate because you must be running a business on a home plan!

taken from somewhere else

So that means unless you are a new customer signing up, you wont actually get these new plans to kick in until May 23 even if you call up and to change over on April 23..... Pretty sneaky of them.

I just spoke to them about this
I called them to make sure my plan was changed over to a newer plan as of the 23rd which is the end of my billing cycle only to find out that I can't change my plan until 23rd of April
what a joke.

I'm pretty sure the wording used on the website would lead me to believe otherwise.

That is why telecom probably aren't advertising their new plans yet, apart from what will happen in May.

Arrr no upgrade for us in terms of data. We may have to move to genius to get the 200gb, or move to Telecom.

Ridiculous. I'm still paying $150 for only 50GB of data, and at $2/GB even the overage is a massive insult. Changing ISP is becoming more and more tempting.

I mean, it's not like Genius uses different data or anything - it's the same damn internet.  Orcon is seriously beginning to piss me off with how much they're putting the boot into customers that can't get the new shiny.

As a non Genius customer I face the choice of being locked in and getting the higher datacap, or pissing off to Telecom.  I'm thinking its the latter.
